In this article, the relevance of studying the materials of the audit of the Turkestan region in 1908-1909 is substantiated. under the leadership of Senator K.K. Palen, as a unique and well-known, but little studied source; a brief overview and analysis of these materials presented in 20 volumes of audit reports published in St. Petersburg and Tashkent in 1910-1911, as well as for the first time on the basis of documents stored in the Russian State Historical Archive in the funds 1396"Revision of Senator K.K.Palen of the Turkestan Territory in 1908-1909." and 1409 "His Imperial Majesty's Own Chancellery", the process of organizing the work of this audit and the formation of its personnel, which determined the uniqueness of the materials of these reports, as a historical source, is considered.
